Has the lackluster economy robbed the luster from our manicures? One of the big trends for fall is matte nail color, a big change from summer’s popular neon brights. Popular companies like OPI, Essie, ManGlaze and KnockOut have gotten in on the action with colors like asphalt, cement, and ink. Essie has even gone as far to offer a mattifier for your manicure that can be layered over any traditional nail color for that ever popular matte finish.
I am on the fence with this trend. On the one hand (ha, ha) I think it looks like a 3 year old took a half dead sharpie to your nails…but on the other hand, something about the look is a little intriguing with the dark colors for fall. Overall, I am not sure this is a trend I will be joining in on, but with colors like concrete and asphalt I am sure all the transportation engineers I work with will be all over it. Will you go matte or stick with shine?
