I don’t know about you gals, but I spent most of my life (about 16 years) dancing, so the Bloch brand is one I know very well. For those of you who don’t know, Bloch makes dance shoes, mostly those made for ballet and pointe. Now they have brought their popular hand-crafted shoes to the street with a line of wearable ballet flats and heels:

Bloch Heels

Bloch Ballet Flats
I must say, these shoes are pretty darn HOT, but you won’t see me running out to buy a pair. Why, you ask? Well if you spent any time in Bloch (or any brand) of pointe shoes, the you will understand. Pointe shoes are made of plywood, concrete, and other very uncomfortable materials that allow ballerinas to move so gracefully on their toes. What you don’t see are the cuts, bleeding and bruising that these dance shoes cause poor ballerinas delicate feet. I attribute pointe shoes to most of the problems I have with my own feet today, which are now covered in scars from many years spent in pointe shoes. I have a problem seperating the Bloch brand from all those painful dancin’ days, but I wouldn’t give them up for anything. I just won’t be subjecting myself to that pain ever again
, especially in my everyday life!

When I went dance shoe shopping I was choosing between a pair of Blochs and Capezios…I went with the 2nd b/c they ended up not having my size in the Blochs, but I really like the Capezios, so I guess it worked out ok?
That’s cool they’re making street shoes, though!

I think Bloch have been working with feet for years, and they have some sort of idea about how a shoe should fit… im so glad they came up with a ladies fashion shoe! Its great and they are sooo comfortable ( i have a few pairs myself! ) and so many women now are discovering them which is great too…
