Back in July, I placed a pre-order for J.Crew’s Cafe Capri in Bright Dahlia. Yes, I placed an order for wool pants when the temperatures were hovering around 100 degrees. Why? Well if you know J.Crew like I do, you know what will sell out quickly and I was sure these would be the IT fall item. The nice representative at J.Crew placed my pre-order and let me know that they would contact me when the pants became available for sale.
Long story short (or relatively short), I finally received my backordered pants in October (though they came out in August, so much for pre-orders) and low and behold, the darn things were too tight thanks to my newly bulging marathon muscles. So I then contacted my dear customer service friends at J.Crew to inquire about a return and was told that the pants were now backordered until JANUARY (told ‘ya they would be popular) and that if I exchanged, I wouldn’t receive the new pair until at least mid-January or later. HELLO?! I live in the South. I would get about one month of wear out of WOOL pants before I would have to pack them away. Le sigh.
So when I found these bright pink capri pants at Old Navy last week, I promptly placed my order and with my 30% coupon paid only $15 smackaroos. I spend more than that on lunch! Take that J.Crew and your overly popular, wanna be pink but actually purple pants. While the Old Navy version isn’t wool (which means I CAN wear them through spring!) they are good quality and have a nice fit, so these $15 beauties are making the ranks and staying in my closet and J.Crew can have their overpriced Cafe Capri back to sell to some other unsuspecting shopper.
