Day 11 of the 30 for 30 Challenge (July 28th, 2010)

Where:

Running errands around the Queen City, driving to my hometown, spending the day in hospitals with my best friend and my dad. My dad had knee replacement this week and my best friend gave birth two months early, so it’s been a crazy week. Remember that game when the clock turns 11:11 and you kiss it and make a wish? My wish would be to make everything better and take all the pain away for my dad and make Baby Mason get better so he can come home. If only it was that simple.

Work and dinner out with friends. Ok, ok so I didn’t ACTUALLY wear this to dinner because it was 105 flippin’ degrees outside! But let’s just pretend I did. Day Nine of the 30 for 30 Challenge (Thursday, July 23rd)

Where:

Work. We had plans to go out for a nice dinner at Bricktop’s for QueensFeast (Charlotte’s version of Restaurant Week) but without our townhouse in Charleston rented the thought of spending a lot on a frivolous dinner didn’t seem to make sense. Luckily on Friday we got it rented to a friend of one of my best friend’s from high school! Sometimes the world works in mysterious ways.

Day Eight of the 30 for 30 Challenge (Monday, July 19th)

Where:

Work, errands, eating my way through the grocery store. Word to the wise: Do not go to Trader Joe’s after not having eaten lunch and do not be tempted to buy Sushi from Trader Joe’s. It might look delicious, but I can assure you it.is.not. It is also not delicious to wear silk shirts on sweltering hot days. Who’s bright idea was it to make summer blouses in silk? And who’s bright idea was it to buy said silk shirts? Oh right, I guess that was me. Ah well, lessons learned today: do not buy TJ’s sushi, eat lunch, and do not wear silk blouses on hot days. There will be a test tomorrow and I expect you all to pass. Eight days down, eight items left to go.

StyleDiary: Seventh Heaven

Day Seven of the 30 for 30 Challenge (Friday, July 16th)

Where:

Work and headed to Hot-lanta to visit a friend for the weekend. Speaking of HOT, our air conditioner has been on the fritz all week and when I got home from work it was NINETY degrees in our house! Poor little Cooper was just panting and laying on the hardwood floors trying to cool off. So we headed to Atlanta, dropped the fur babies off at my parents halfway so they didn’t burst in flames, and left our problem for when we got back home. Needless to say, sleeping Sunday night was not pleasant, but luckily the air is now fixed and it is nice and cool in our house again. What did people do before air conditioning in the South? And what did I do before cute shoes from Target?

Monday, July 13th…Day Five of 30 for 30 Challenge

Where:

Work, dinner, kicking butt and taking names. Ok, not really, but it would be cool if I did right? I really wanted to throw this striped shirt into the 30 for 30 mix since it is so versatile, but I don’t know what possessed me to wear it with a bright, printed, pink skirt. Because bright printed pink skirts aren’t exactly versatile. So the plot thickens and the challenge gets harder each day. In the word’s of Dori, ‘Just Keep Swimming.’ Or Running, or whatever.

Lunch with the hubby, shopping for the house, trying to get hub’s broken Iphone replaced (no luck there). 19 items left to go in 26 days…that can’t be THAT bad, right? Just beware you will be seeing a lot of these white jeans in those upcoming 26 days. Well at least those days not labeled M-Th, as that would get me fired and I would be remixing 30 pajama’s in 30 days! Perhaps that will be my next challenge? Where:

Casual Friday at work, rug shopping, dinner and TCBY with the hubs, shattering hubs new Iphone4…the usual Friday evening events. Well except that whole phone shattering incident, I promise it was an accident. Three Days in and three more items down. No need in fancy schmancy color photography for this black and white look. Not normally something I would post on this here bloggie, but trying to play by the rules ‘ya know. I probably could have taken a little more effort, but it was Friday and everyone at work was on vacation…so why waste valuable fashion on an empty office?

Day Two of 30 for 30 or just Thursday

Where:

Work. Moving right along to day two and four more items crossed off the list. At this rate I’ll be wearing this outfit again next Thursday or wearing yoga pants to work. I thought about leaving out the cardigan since I only actually wore it IN the office to keep warm, but that wouldn’t be in the true spirit of the challenge now would it? So eight items down, 22 more left to go.

StyleDiary: The Un-Planner

Day One of Thirty (aka July 7th, 2010)

Where:

Work. Let’s just be honest…I am winging Kendi’s 30 for 30 Challenge. I may be a planner by day, but planning is not my forte. I stood in my closet on Monday staring around and wondering how the heck I was ever going to choose 30 of the many items in that black abyss. So I ran away. And I painted the dining room. Then I decided I couldn’t give up that easily, so with that I am ‘winging’ the 30 day challenge. I will just wear items from my closet until I reach the 30 threshold, then I shall see if I can remix those items in the nature of the challenge. I must warn you though, this could get ugly, very, very ugly. Stick with me though, k?

While the challenge also includes 30 days of no shopping, I must call a mulligan for July 31st, aka my 10 YEAR high school reunion. Yep, folks I am old. Just go ahead and call me grandma. You can’t really expect that I would remix something for my high school reunion could you? So a new dress and shoes, but that.is.all. If I fail you all get a discount from heels.com!
