What Was She Thinking (or was she)?
Jessica Simpson in Florida

Jessica Simpson in Florida

Oh Jessica, you better shape up before Tony Romo goes running. Don’t get me wrong, I think your new curves look fabulous, but please wear clothes that flatter them. It seems like Jessica’s style has really been through the ringer since her divorce from Nick Lachey. Maybe he was her voice of reason? It almost hurts me to even look at these photos, how ’bout you? And just think, she has a multi-million dollar fashion company, yikes!

SAG Awards: Style Wrap Up

Did anyone else watch the SAG awards for the fashion last night? I never really care about the awards themselves, but I love seeing all the beautifully (and not so beautifully) designed dressed and jewelry on the red carpet. So here are a few of my favorites, and some of my not so favorites:

Teri Hatcher in Monique Lhuillier:

Let me start by saying I LOVE this dress, but not on her! The dress is too large for her frail frame and she looks like she is swimming in it. Definitely did not do justice to Monqiue Lhuillier’s beautiful architectural design. I think I could have done without the belt, but this dress was by far my favorite of the night.

America Ferrara inVera Wang:

Can you really go wrong with Vera Wang? Her designs have such beautiful flowing lines and I thought America Ferrara looked great in this nude, flowing dress. The hair, the makeup, and the jewelry all compliment the Vera Wang design and add a hint of glamour to a relatively understated design.

Kate Winslet in Narcisco Rodriguez:

This royal blue Narcisco Rodriguez design is so elegant and compliments Kate Winslet’s curvy body and porcelain skin perfectly. Simple, under-stated, yet oh so beautiful.

Freida Pinto (Slumdog Millionaire) in Marchesa:

This lavender, GrecianĀ  style is amazing and really stands out again Pinto’s dark skin and hair. I think this is a style I could actually pull off, not that I would ever get a chance to attend an awards show, but I can dream, right?

Angeline Jolie in Max Azria (courtesy of JustJared.com):

Just because it is the SAG awards doesn’t mean you have to wear a saggy dress! This style does nothing for her and the color is so blah. Come on Angelina, you might be a husband stealer, but can’t you do better than this?

Christina Applegate in Emanuel Ungaro:

Don’t get me wrong, I still think Christina Applegate looks great in this Kelly Green Emanuel Ungaro number, but I am undecided on the design of the dress (and that long necklace). Again, why all the “Saggy” dress designs? They are not flattering to a woman’s figure at all! This style just looks ill-fitting and doesn’t do much for me.

Emily Blunt in Pamella Roland

Prom circa 1997 anyone? Sorry, but this is just a hot mess. The dress, the color, the hair, the makeup (or lack thereof), Emily Blunt looks like she just stepped off her spaceship! Ick!

And last but not least,

Marisa Tomei in Elie Saab

This dress looked fabulous from the front, but then Marisa Tomei turned around and revealed this:

TOO MANY RUFFLES! The color and style of the dress is amazing, but I cannot get past these awful ruffles that look like an afterthought. And honey, it’s an awards show, pump up the makeup and glam. Her makeup looks like everyday makeup instead of a glamorous, night out on the town.

So what do you think? Which designs were your favorites?

Style Diary

I thought I would post various styles I wear and see if anyone has other style ideas to add to my repertoire or to give you ideas on how to update your own style. So here is what I chose to wear to work today, and while my shoes were killing my feet by the end of the day, I actually got a lot of compliments on the ensemble. It is a simple white ruffle blouse (J. Crew), with a long black cardi (Banana Republic), geometric skirt (Banana Republic), black tights, and gray maryjanes (Nine West). I accessorized with a simple pearl necklace and earrings and my signature Dogeared necklace, Tiffany Bracelet & Black Pearl/Diamond Ring. Do you have a signature style item or itemsĀ  that you wear everyday?

Here is my Dogeared “It’s the Journey” necklace in silver. I highly suggest their jewelry pieces if you are looking for something simple to wear everyday. They can also be layered with other necklaces for more depth and most styles are under $100.

What I Want Now

Canon EOS Digital Rebel SLR Camera

I used the old-school non-digital Rebel for all my art and photography classes in college and would love to get back into the swing of doing my photography. This would make a great start, but at $600 I am not so sure how practical this would be. I just wish I could afford one before we leave for Colorado, I could really get some great scenes out there! Circuit City is going out of business, so I am watching the store to see when these will go on sale so I can swoop one up.
