I don’t know about you gals, but I can’t say I was overly impressed with any of the fashion at the Grammy awards. I know it is supposed to be more of a fun and funky event compared to other awards shows, but some of the dresses were downright awful.
Here are the ones I thought were HOT:
Doesn’t she look great in this gold, sparkly gown? I think the blush/gold color really complements her skin tone and blonde hair, and really I think Carrie Underwood would probably look good in a garbage bag. There are just some gals that can look fab in anything…wish I was one of those!
Taylor Swift’s black Kaufman Franco number is right up my alley. Simple, yet elegant and very age appropriate. Sometimes I think a simple black dress comes across so much more sophisticated and elegant than some of the crazy styles these gals choose to wear to awards shows.

Audrina Patridge in Tadashi
I had to take a second look because I didn’t even realize this was Audrina from The Hills at first! She looks super fab in this teal Tadashi gown and black Alexander McQueen clutch. I actually kind of like her funky updo as well, how about you?

Sara Bareilles in Louisa Beccaria
I must say I love Sarah Bareilles’ music and her pink and red Louisa Beccaria ensemble! I thought she really pulled off the pink and red well, which can be hard to do and of course the fluffy ruffled skirt is what attracts me to this dress
There were also a few that I was on the line about including Jennifer Hudson’s black and white dress, Miley Cyrus’ Herve Leger by Max Azria gown, and Katy Perry’s pink gown. Did you love or hate these fashion choices?

Katy Perry

Miley Cyrus
The WORST fashion I noticed was singer M.I.A. (she sings that awful paper planes song). There are no words to describe it…and there she was bouncing around 9 months preggie on the stage. I can’t believe she didn’t go into labor right there in the middle of the performance!

M.I.A. Performance
I realize it ain’t easy to find something to wear when you’re 9 months preggie, but I think she could have done better, no?
My favorite part of the Grammy’s this year was the performance by Miley Cyrus and Taylor Swift. I just love Taylor Swift’s voice, don’t you?
Just in case you missed it, here is the YouTube vid:
What styles were your faves?
I don’t know about where you live, but it was a gorgeous southern Sunday here in the Queen City! My day was spent dining with some girlfriends and going to see “He’s Just Not That Into You.” The weather was so nice, we even dined outside on the patio at Dean and Deluca. The movie was actually better than expected, I really like how all of the characters were interconnected in a way, even though they didn’t all know each other. I also enjoyed the way it was set with several different story lines following different characters…that is one way to keep my ADD in check and make me pay attention. Don’t want to give away any major movie details, so I will discuss movie fashion
I think my favorite style in the movie was that of Jennifer Aniston’s (of course!). Why is it she always gets the best wardrobe in all of her movies? She definitely had a classic, put together vibe going:

Jennifer Aniston - He's Just Not That Into You
I didn’t feel like Jennifer Aniston and Drew Barrymore got a lot of screen time compared to the other characters, and they are the main reason I wanted to see the movie. I am not a big Scarlett Johannsen fan and I really did not appreciate her character in the film. I also thought she looked pretty rough, but that was maybe intentional?
Anywho, I definitely give this movie a 4 out of 5 PinQue stars and suggest you get a group of gals together to go see it!
I just love lip glosses and these are a few of my favorites:
1. Clinique Long Last Glosswear in Air Kiss – This is probably one of the first lipglosses my mom ever bought me when I started wearing makeup, and I still think it is one of the best. It used to come in a little lip pot, but now they have a advanced to a tube which makes it even better. The Air Kiss color is very light and looks great on everyone, but doesn’t make your lips feel sticky or greasy. It also looks great layered over lipstick or a lip pencil. Get 3 mini lipsticks with a $40 purchase with offer code LIP.
2. C.O. Bigelow Mentha Lip - I have been addicted to this stuff since a friend let me borrow hers several years ago. Not only does it look great, it has a peppermint flavor that helps freshen your breath! I have a couple of tubes of this so that I am never without it, one for the car, the house, several purses, etc
And for less than $10, you can’t beat the value. Only problem is that as far as I know, the only place to get it is Bath and Body Works and I can never leave the store with just the lipgloss! By the way, they are on sale at http://www.bathanbodyworks.com right now!
3. MAC Lipglass – I discovered this and all of my other favorite MAC products when I got my wedding makeup there three years ago. I don’t really like this for everyday wear, but it is great for a night out or special event. I am not a big fan of regular lipstick, so I find that this layered over a lip pencil looks great and adds a lot of depth to your makeup. It also comes in a million colors, so there is one out there suitable for everyone and also a clear lipglass for gals who would rather go au naturale. Try it today and get FREE SHIPPING with any purchase with offer code LIGHTFULS.
4. Burt’s Bees – If you are active or outdoors a lot, this is the lipstuff for you! It is the perfect cure for chapped lips and helps protect the sensitive skin on your lips from sun and wind. I love this when I am lying in the sun, boating, skiing, running or just to cure my wind chapped lips. Also great for guys, so hubby and I have stocked up for our ski trip this week.
What are your faves?
I have yet to see Shanae Grimes (90210) looking decent in public. It is like she rolls out of bed and out the door:

Somebody help this poor girl find some fashion!!!
Since it is Charlotte Restaurant Week hubby and I decided to try out a restaurant that we have never been to before, LaVecchia’s to celebrate an early Valentine’s Day. Coming from the coast, both Hubby and I are huge seafood lovers, and that is what LaVecchia’s specializes in! So we got all dressed up and grabbed the lightrail to go uptown for our reservation.
I chose a magenta Banana Republic dress, black tights (Hue), Silver Nine West heels, and a black, drapey cardigan cinched with a black belt:

I would give LaVecchia’s a B+ on the quality and flavor of the dishes and a C- on service. The food was actually pretty tasty, but it tasted like it sat in the window for a little while under a heat lamp. The problem was that our server put everything we ordered in all at once and we got bombarded with food from all directions. Seriously, we finished our whole 4 course meal in 30 minutes!
I chose to go with the goat cheese salad (I <3 Goat Cheese!!), almond encrusted tilapia with whipped potatoes, and a brownie cheesecake. We also ordered an appetizer of calamari, one of our faves.

LaVecchia's Atmosphere

Wine
I started off dinner with a glass of Merlot that was just okay. Took a few sips of the husband’s ShockTop beer and wish I would have gotten that instead!
Next we got our Calamari, which was really nothing special. Our favorite Calamari is still that at Carabba’s.

Calamari
My favorite part of our meal was the bread (delicous and doughy, yum) and my goat cheese salad which had an amazing dressing/sauce on it! I actually could have just eaten the bread with the salad and been completely satisfied.

Goat Cheese Salad
Quickly after (seriously, we felt so rushed!!) came our meals. The tilapia was actually delicious but put my fullness WAY over the edge. I think hubby and I both feel miserably full right now. Hubby got beef medallions and grits, which were pretty tasty as well.

Almond Encrusted Tilapia
Before we were even finished eating our meals, our desserts arrived at the table (sorry, didn’t get a photo). I ordered a brownie cheesecake and hubby got a chocolate torte. I took one small taste of each and boxed them up to bring home, this was way too much food for one meal! All in all the meal was good and I liked the restaurant, but had it been regular priced I don’t think I would have enjoyed it as much. Definitely not a place I think we will be going back to anytime soon. Off to the couch with a full belly
Hope you had a great Friday night, hooray for the weekend and my upcoming vacation!
