Happy Thanksgiving! I am now sitting on the couch with a full belly and a happy heart! After running the Charlotte Turkey Trot this morning I came home and cooked up a storm in the kitchen. Our menu included:
- Turkey
- Dressing
- Mashed Potatoes
- Sweet Potato Casserole (my favorite!)
- Green Beans
- Macaroni and Cheese (my grandma’s recipe of course!)
- Squash Casserole
- Homemade Biscuits
The best part is all the leftovers we will be eating throughout this weekend
On this day and every day, I think it is important to think about what I am thankful for and sometimes tend to take for granted:
* Having a healthy and happy family and two loving parents who have been married over 30 years!
* My husband who loves me unconditionally, no matter how bossy and irritable I get
* The cutest, sweetest doggie and kitty that a girl could ever want
* A strong, healthy body that helped me run the Turkey Trot 8K this morning in 52.23!
* A stable, well-paying job doing something I really enjoy and great coworkers who teach me something new every day
* A roof over my head and hot food on my table
* Having a group of amazing friends, some of which I have had most of my life. Though many of them are far away, I know I have their unconditional love and support and can pick up the phone any time I need them
While I may love shopping and material things, I thing there is nothing better to be thankful for than some incredible people in my life and a God who brings me new things to be thankful for each day!
Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving and continues to remember to be thankful each day!
When:
Tuesday, November 24th
Where:
Work and scouting out peanut butter cookie dough at a million grocery stores! We are having a little dessert party at work tomorrow and I needed peanut butter cookie dough to make my favorite Reese Cup cookies, yum! Apparently they don’t make the refrigerated kind anymore, so I went with good ‘ole Betty Crocker.

Tights – HUE

Shoes – Nine West
Earrings – Express

I finally broke down (and now I am broke!) and ordered a few things for our empty den/sitting room, along with a media console that is more in scale with our 50’ ridiculous flat screen. Luckily I got some great deals, since most of the items are for a mostly underutilized room, I didn’t want spend too much money, but I did want to have some furniture in the room since we have several holiday parties coming up in our new home.
Our tv stand is rather out of scale with our television (this is actually a photo from our townhome in Charleston):
So I decided to get this media console that will accommodate that 50’ TV my hubby just had to have:

I think the black will look nice with our red furniture in our den, especially compared to our old one!
For our living/sitting room, I started with this sofa I found at Overstock.com. I would have rather had a Pottery Barn style, but I do like the vintage feel of this sofa and it is small enough to accommodate the irregular shape of the room.

Here is the empty room we will be putting this furniture in:
I also purchased two small rugs for the doors since we trek through this room every day, along with two bookcases to flank the fireplace, from Target. These rugs are likely temporary until I find something nicer that I really love.
HOME Modern Botanical Rug – 20×32 – Target.com
The only problem with the bookcases is now I have to find something to put on them! The sitting room still has a long way to go (as does the rest of the house) but at least we are one step closer to turning our house into our home.
When:
Friday, November 20th..Happy Birthday to my best friends since kindergarten, Beth and Jennifer (twins!)
Where:
Work then off to Murrells Inlet to see the in-laws.
What:

My in-laws are lucky enough to live right across the street from this beautiful scene:
So I took full advantage and did my long 9 mile run down to the beach and back. It was such a beautiful day!
And of course Cooper was ecstatic to see his ‘aunt-y’ Kaya, whom he absolutely loves!
Thanksgiving is so close I can almost taste it
Hope everyone has a great holiday week!
When:
Thursday, November 19th, 2009
