DesignerStyle: NYFW Day One

Three inches of snow on the ground, not even Spring yet and here we are at NYFW Fall 2010! While I can’t actually be in NYC for the shows, I love looking at all the upcoming designs. So far I have noticed a few trends emerging, minimalism, draping, nudes and blacks, and some grunge reminiscent of my middle school years.

Chado Ralph Rucci

The attention to detail is Chado’s collection is beyond amazing.

Cushnie et Ochs

Lots of luxurious draping in this beautiful collection.

Christian Siriano

Siriano won Project Runway for a reason…he knows how to design for the female aesthetic. With all the ruffles and draping, his collection is absolutely stunning! Surprisingly (or, well not) the collection didn’t get good reviews from fashion critics because it was too ‘vanilla’.’ What can I say, I am a classics kind of gal!

Yigal Azrouel

I love the architectural cuts in the collection and the menswear inspired looks.

Jason Wu

My favorite collection so far!

Ruffian

Ah polka dots, you steal my heart every time!

Doo.Ri

Simplistic, but stunning in execution.

Bensoni

Okay, okay I lied, Bensoni is my favorite of the day. While critics claim the collection was nothing ‘special,’ I could envision myself donning the majority of these beautiful pieces. Apparently beautiful, classic lines are not acceptable in high fashion anymore. That’s okay, I still love them!

February 12th, 2010

Where:

Work, staff breakfast, Zumba…now playing in the snow! Us southerners FREAK out when the white stuff falls from the sky, and I don’t think I have ever seen it happen twice in two weeks. I just wish it would happen during the week instead of on the weekends, it’s no fun being trapped in the house. I also came home to this wonderful early Valentine’s Day present:
