Yesterday I was talking on the phone to my mom (or make that complaining), as I always do on my way home from work, about I much I loathe my job. Her response to me? “Honey, most people hate their jobs.” To which I replied, “I don’t want to be most people.” I have never wanted to be like everyone else. I always wanted to be a little bit different, yet here I am like 90% of America waking up every day, looking in the mirror and dreading the 8 hours ahead of me.

We have had several retirees this year in my department (typical for a government job) and there always seems to be one common theme, “Now I can go live my life like I want.” My question is what have they been doing for the last 30 years, just existing? I don’t want to be one of these people who wastes and wishes their life away until I am too old to really enjoy it anymore. I want to love what I do and be happy to get out of bed in the morning and go to work (or wherever) and make a contribution to society. I am not sure the road that lies ahead to get there, but I will pave it in 2012. There is no way I am going to be sitting in this boring beige cube when 2013 rolls around wishing I had spent the last year making things happen. Cheers to 2012 and finding happiness. And maybe a little of myself in the process.

{Top and Skirt – Forever21, Bag – Coach, Bracelets – BaubleBar and Forever21, Boots – Banana Republic}

Anyone else have a holiday hangover? And by hangover, I mean extreme food coma. All I have done for the past week and a half is eat…and eat…and eat some more. It’s kind of like freshman year of college all over again. Except this time the pounds can be attributed to cups of sugar instead of cups of beer. I cooked Christmas Eve dinner at my house and used no less than 4 sticks of butter cooking one meal. You can just call me Paula Deen instead of Paula Michelle (my real name), round figure and all. Someone save me from myself, but take this chocolate ball out of my hand at your own risk.

PS. Thanks Mema for the Chocolate Balls…they are DELICIOUS!

Considering that it was hovering around 70 today down South, it doesn’t look like we will be having a white Christmas this year. Never do I remember being able to run (or do anything else) in shorts three days before Christmas! Guess Al Gore was on to something with all that global warming talk.

On another note, hope you all have a wonderful and safe holiday, whichever holiday(s) you celebrate!

Now that college football is over (insert HUGE sad face!) I really don’t know what to do with my Saturdays. So this Saturday was spent donning an ugly Christmas sweater and attending my husband’s company holiday party. What’s a gal gotta do for an excuse to go buy a fancy dress? My husband left the party with a Forever Lazy as his White Elephant/Dirty Santa gift. Apparently his coworkers know him well.

God bless the grandma/teacher/overzealous mom that left this beauty at the Goodwill.
