I have to admit, when I first hear Mary Kay I picture middle aged women driving around in pink Cadillacs and selling cosmetics door to door. So when BlogHer asked me to review some Mary Kay products, I was pleasantly surprised to discover that Mary Kay has evolved since the years of catalogs and door to door sales. While consultants still drive around in pink Cadillacs, Mary Kay products target a much wider and more diverse audience these days. These definitely aren’t the cosmetics of my mom’s hayday (sorry mom).
Thanks to Mary Kay and BlogHer, in the mail arrived a beautiful box of products tied up nicely with a pink bow. They must know I am a sucker for bows. And pink. In the box were the Timewise Microdermabrasion Set, a mini compact filled with 3 eye shadows and a blush, as well as a luscious lipstick.
The mini compact is magnetic, refillable and fits three eye shadows and a blush or six eye shadows, all customizable to your liking.
It even has a lovely hidden compartment with two eye shading brushes and a mini blush brush, perfect for an on the go gal like me. This is a great addition for my purse or gym bag to keep me looking fresh all day long!
I am not usually a lipstick gal (I tend to stick to glosses), but this bold fuchsia lip color is the perfect addition to for a fashion forward fall look. It’s amazing how a little lip color can brighten up your whole face.
I started before bed with the Timewise Microdermabrasion set to create a smooth canvas for makeup application the following morning. Step 1 is a refining exfoliator while Step 2 completes the process with a replenishing serum.
No curious kitties were harmed in the microdermabrasion process.
Just a dab will do ‘ya and make your skin feel silky smooth. While I have only used the product a few times, I can tell over time that this will likely improve the quality and clarity of my very oily and acne prone skin. Let’s be honest, anything that improves my horrible skin is a winner in my book!
The following morning, I broke out my compact and lipstick before work and I have to say I was thrilled with the results.
The eye and cheek colors were so easy to apply and went on silky smooth while the lip color brightened up my whole face. Because the colors are so highly pigmented, you can easily keep them light for daytime or layer them for a more dramatic look at night. Even my coworkers noticed my new found radiance and the confidence that shone through from looking my best with Mary Kay. So much so that I came home after work and started foraging the Mary Kay website to see what other goodies I could find. I think I see one of those larger refillable compacts in my future. Who knows, maybe next time they will send me one of those pink Cadillacs to test drive. You know I love pink!

It's been a long time since I've used Mary Kay products. I would love to try the new items, especially the anti aging products.
I just started using Mary Kay products again this summer and I must say I love it! I'm using the Time Wise anti-aging products and have seen a big difference in my skin.

I used Mary Kay years ago but stopped as I found something else. Years later had a friend who sold it and fell in love with the hand therapy kit. Time passed on and rediscovered the green tea bath and lotion products and love they feel. Will try it again.
My friend swears by Mary Kay cosmetics and has never used anything else. It feels good and does not feel like you are wearing anything. I keep hearing about these products and when you hear about something a lot, it is no coincidence. There is a reason.

I LOVE MARY KAY!!!! i use this line every day! I haven't tried the microdermabrasian BUT i use the timewise cleanser and day and night creams and love what they're doing for me! I alsooo loved reading your review on it; it's good to hear someone likes it as well!

I have tried Mary Kay cosmetics and still have a couple of products from them which I think are great value for the money. I wish they marketed themselves better so that they were seen as being more modern. Love this blog entry.
I felt the same way about MK (for older women…), until I tried the products (which I LOVE). I guess I am becoming an older woman, so I'm OK either way!
